Jay-Z, who is part owner of the New Jersey Nets, announced today on Good Day New York (FOX) that the franchise will be changing it’s name to the Brooklyn Nets. As a result of the team moving to Jay-Zs hometown of Brooklyn, NY, the name seems fitting.

San Francisco Giants’ closer Brian Wilson has been spotted rocking the super exclusive Marty McFly’s (Nike Air MAG) in the dugout. Released in limited numbers in eBay auctions only, the first pair went to an anonymous bidder for $37,500. The Wall Street Journal has reported that LeBron James is now an owner of the Liverpool Football Club, which alongside Manchester United is the most successful soccer team in the U.K., and one of the most popular and powerful sports franchises in the world.
Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, have struck a partnership deal with James’ sports-marketing agency LRMR Branding & Marketing, making them the exclusive world-wide representative for LeBron James. The deal included giving James an undisclosed minority ownership stake in the football club. FSG, who also own the Boston Red Sox, said about the deal “We’re not interested in talent or athlete representation but we think he is one of the most remarkable athletes of his time… We believe we can open doors for LeBron and LeBron can open doors for us.”
In a reference to Liverpool’s success, LeBron James commented “Eighteen championships. I see myself trying to do the same things they have.” Time will tell how many rings James wins in the NBA, but LeBron James’ future is one that will exist with or without basketball, he’s made sure of that.
