Ok, so maybe Barack Obama is not a RUNAWAY to win in 2012, but the Obama camp has just released the list of designers participating in their ‘Runway to Win’ campaign.

The ‘Runway to Win’ campaign for the Obama administration is a project created by Vogue editor Anna Wintour, and features top American fashion designers aimed to generate revenue for Barack Obama’s 2012 Presidential campaign. Designers such as Marc Jacobs, Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, and Sean Combs have designed unique clothing and accessories available for sale on Barack Obama’s official website.

Here are a few designs I liked most:

Jason Wu

Marc Jacobs

Diane von Furstenberg

The online store officially launches on February 7th however, select items are available for pre-order now.

Batman: Every (Significant) Bat-Suit

“Unlike Superman, who has more or less been wearing the same blue and red strongman since Action Comics #1 in 1938, Batman just keeps changing his appearance every few years to keep up with the times. Basically, he’s the Madonna of superheroes.

Which is why I created this Batman infographic — to keep track of every single “significant” bat-suit across all mediums (which excludes a grand majority of the bat-suits featured in non-canonical comic books, in case you were wondering).

In part, what makes Batman such an excellent comic book/movie/television/video game/theatrical character is his unique ability to comfortably exist inside of just about every kind of story. He can fight gods. He can play superhero. He can be the world’s greatest detective or just solve petty street crimes. Whether the story is gritty, ridiculous, or brimming with science-fiction – or in the case of Grant Morrison’s work on the character, all of the above – Batman is always capable of thriving creatively.

Batman’s neverending bat-suit wardrobe is a symptom of that. He can wear just about any sort of outfit, for any sort of story or scenario, and still be the most popular superhero in existence. He’s just that good, man.” - @BenAndrewMoore

Seems the NBA Lockout is not slowing down LeBron James’ ambition. He’s launching a clothing boutique - “UNKNWN.” The above picture shows the outside of it’s first location in Aventura, FL.

The NBA is in the midst of a lockout as labor negotiations take place, which has led to the cancellation of a number of games.

Basketball games are not the only things being missed during the lockout however, as frequency of the basketball related commercial spots have also lessened. The latest such commercial comes from Nike/Jordan Brand which follows Team Jordan basketball stars as they try to cope with the lockout and play wherever there is a game… all because they “Love the Game.”

Check it out below!

Juan Bago and “O” (pictured above) became internet sensations early this year, with the release of the music video parody “Pan con Queso.” A spoof on rapper Wiz Khalifa’s hit record “Black and Yellow,” “Pan con Queso” is a fictional (and very funny) journey the two Washington Heights based actor/comedians embark on in search of their favorite traditional Dominican breakfast: “pan con queso” (bread with cheese).

Juan Bago and “O” are back to give us more Dominican-American fueled comedy, and this time are taking on Jay-Z & Kanye West’s “Ni**as in Paris.”

The song is “Dominis in the Heights,” and the video is below. Enjoy!

Maybe.

Today, UberMedia (Echofon, UberSocial) launched a new micro-messaging site called Chime.in. The site will basically have all of the features Twitter would not allow UberMedia to implement on their platform. However, UberMedia CEO Bill Gross says the site is not a social network and is not in direct competition with Twitter. Instead Gross calls his site an “interest network.”

The photo above displays a “Chime” I created. Each Chime is a short message with a 2000 character limit where videos, photos, and other content can be included directly in the message. You can also tag your Chime with interests that it pertains to for easy searches from other topic pages.

At first I thought, great just another social networking site, WHY SHOULD I JOIN? Then I paid closer attention to Gross when he launched the service today at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco. There are two essential things Chime.in will be doing different from Twitter and Facebook.

1. Relevance:

When you follow someone on Twitter or friend them on Facebook, you may have followed/befriended them because of your interest in their taste in Music but do not particularly care about what they had for lunch. Chime.in allows you to follow specific interests, or even follow people but just see Chimes that are of a particular topic (updates from John about “BMWs” will show on your timeline, but nothing else).

2. Cash!:

This is the big picture here. Sites like Twitter and Facebook do not offer revenue to publishers unless they drive traffic to their own sites. Chime.in allows publishers to create their own pages and include ads on those pages. If they want to sell the advertising themselves, they keep 100% of revenue, if Chime.in sells the advertising there is a 50/50 split. At launch, E!, Bravo TV, Universal Pictures, and Disney were participating, big players to say the least. There is also revenue sharing for individual posters (like me and you!), by splitting revenue generated from ads posted in your interest community groups.

Pretty cool stuff… If it works (at the time of posting this entry, the site was down!).

The iPhone app is currently available in the Apple App Store.

The Video was dedicated to the late Steve Jobs. Way to go CNET, excellent work. Enjoy!

But I can’t, but I’m not retiring. Writers don’t retire, and I’ll always be a writer.”

Jay-Z, who is part owner of the New Jersey Nets, announced today on Good Day New York (FOX) that the franchise will be changing it’s name to the Brooklyn Nets. As a result of the team moving to Jay-Zs hometown of Brooklyn, NY, the name seems fitting.

A new era in mobile communication is about to unfold in New York City. Starting this Tuesday, AT&T and T-Mobile subscribers will be able to use their cellphones at six underground stations across Manhattan.

The New York stations where the service will be available are on 14th Street from 6th Avenue to 8th Avenue, and on 23rd Street and 8th Avenue.

The signals will cover the platforms and mezzanines of the stations, but extend only a short distance into tunnels. Cellular data services and text messaging will work in addition to calls.

The company that’s doing the wiring, Transit Wireless, has another five years to set up service at the other 271 stations in the system. That means it needs to wire about one new station per week.

Transit Wireless is expected to spend about $200 million on the project, and has promised the Metropolitan Transit Authority another $46 million in rent over 10 years. Transit Wireless will in turn charge wireless carriers for extending their signals underground.

There is no timeline set for Sprint and Verizon subscribers being able to take their conversations underground.

Good idea? Bad idea? No idea.
